Chinese
Name:藍矽銅礦/(斜矽銅礦)
English Name:Shattuckite
Chemical Composition:Cu5(SiO3)4(OH)2 | a copper silicate hydroxide mineral. It is closely related to Plancheite in sturcture and appearance, and the 2 minerals are often confused
Crystal System:orthorhombic
Crystal Habit: Usually in granular massive form and also as fibrous acicular crystals
Hardness:3.5
Luster:Vitreous to Silky
SG:~4.1
Related Chakra:Third-eye. Throat
Astrological Sign:Sagittarius, Aquarius

Source of Name:It was first discovered in 1915 in the copper mines of Bisbee, Arizona, specifically the Shattuck Mine (hence the name).
At the Shattuck Mine, it forms pseudomorphs after malachite. A pseudomorph is an atom by atom replacement of a crystal structure by another crystal structure, but with little alteration of the outward shape of the original crystal.
Its commonly found near or in association with Malachite, Chrysocolla, Turquoise, and Ajoite. |
